Organization's Purpose: Women United Against AIDS in Ghana (WUAAG) was established in 2002 by women living with HIV/AIDS (WLWAs) to promote and protect the rights of WLWAs and provide economic empowerment opportunities for marginalized women in the Greater Accra Region. With over 85 members, its activities include: 1) conducting community advocacy on HIV/AIDS to reduce the stigmatization of WLWAs; 2) providing members with nutritional guidance, counseling, and business skills trainings; and 3) enhancing members’ access to anti-retroviral therapy and medical treatment. WUAAG is active in national and international HIV/AIDS networks and fora. The group established a multi-purpose resource center in 2005 in the community of Darnfa, which consists of a counseling area, a library, an infirmary (established with GFW support), a child-care unit, and a skills training unit.
